How to install a Claude skill
SurfaceKit skills are workflow files you attach to a Claude conversation. No accounts, no integrations, no code — just download, attach, and run.
Download the skill file
On the Skills page, click the Download button next to the skill you want. Your browser will save a .skill file to your Downloads folder.
—The file is a plain text file — safe to open and inspect if you're curious.
—You only need to download it once; the same file works every time.
Install the skill in Claude
Open claude.ai in your browser (or the Claude desktop app). Start a new conversation, then attach the.skill file using the paperclip / attachment icon in the message input.
- 1Click the + or paperclip icon in Claude's chat input
- 2Choose "Upload a file" and select the .skill file from your Downloads folder
- 3Send the message — Claude will confirm it has loaded the skill

—Works with Claude.ai (web) and the Claude desktop app on Mac and Windows.
Open in Claude and run it
After attaching the file, click Open in Claude on the Skills page (or just type your first prompt). Claude will guide you through connecting your Shopify store and running the workflow.
—You don't need to re-upload the file each session — Claude can re-read it from your conversation history.
—If Claude seems to have forgotten the skill, just re-attach the file at the start of a new chat.
Common questions
Do I need a paid Claude plan?
File attachments require a Claude Pro plan (or higher). If you're on the free tier, you can still use the Open in Claude button — it launches Claude with a pre-filled prompt that describes the skill, so Claude can guide you through the workflow without needing the file.
What is a .skill file, exactly?
It's a plain text file containing a structured prompt that tells Claude exactly what workflow to run, what inputs to ask for, and how to process the results. You can open it in any text editor to see what's inside.
Does it work on mobile?
The Claude iOS and Android apps support file attachments. Tap the paperclip icon in the message input and choose the .skill file from your Files app (iOS) or file manager (Android).
